Frequently asked questions

The checker can't find my IC code — what should I do?

First, double-check the characters — memory ICs use letters and numbers that are easy to misread under poor light (for example, 0 vs O, or 1 vs I). A magnifier or microscope helps. If the code is correct but still not found, the part may not be in the database yet — please send it to us and we'll add it.

Does the checker work without internet?

Yes. The IC Checker app includes a full offline mode, so you can check IC codes in the workshop, at a market stall, or in the field with no connection. When you're online, newly added IC codes sync automatically — no app update required.

Is IC Checker free?

Yes. IC Checker is free to download and use from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

The voice output isn't speaking. How do I fix it?

Voice output uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine. Make sure your media volume is up, that text-to-speech is enabled in your device settings (Android TTS, or Spoken Content on iPhone), and that a voice/language pack is installed. Restarting the app after enabling TTS usually resolves it.
